My New Friends

Hi again everyone! Jemima Jones here! I just wanted to take a few minutes to introduce all two of my readers to my new friends!
Mom and Dad have joined a website group called Meetup.com. On Meetup.com they found lots of other people who are owned by pugs and scheduled a "meetup" so that all of us dogs could play! I had a really good time, except that one of the boy pugs kept humping me, which was a totally new experience for me, and something that I must say I did not enjoy...
Anyways, in the picture on the left you can see (from left to right), Mom and Me, Desiree's legs, Nemo (the humper), and Danny holding Dudders, Trinity, and Midnight. Aren't we a really cute bunch?
Aside from getting humped I also ate treats with the other pugs, ran around, rolled on the ground, chased a large German Shepard, terrified a small child, and generally had fun!
If you want to see more pictures of us playing go to this website: http://jemimajonespug.shutterfly.com
Love you all,

Can't I Please Come In?

Look at how cute I am... pretty cute right? You would assume, based on this cuteness, that I would be welcome anywhere in the world (because after all, doesn't beauty open more doors than brains?). But the fact is that I am welcome very few places. I am welcome at some parks, on a few hiking trails, and in the occasional store. I am not welcome in a much larger plethora of places, such as; the grocery store, the mall, antique stores, restaurants, schools, private homes, swimming pools, spas, dentists offices (although Mom says that I shouldn't want to go to the dentists office anyway), golf courses (which are outdoors so why?!?!), and movie theatres. I think that this last one is particularity unfair for several reasons, 1. there is always food on the floor in movie theatres, they obviously need someone to clean it up, and I could do that, 2. Mom and Dad spend a lot of time there, and 3. Pugs like movies to, just because we have four feet doesn't mean that we can't appreciate a good actor (or a good actor's "tushie" as Mom frequently expresses appreciation of).
So please, contact your local governing body and apply to him or her to change the rules governing the places that Pugs can access! This is a worthy cause!

Our Normal Points of View

Hello All! As you can see the picture to the left is taken from my normal point of view. It is a picture of Dad and Mom walking along in front of me through the snow. You will notice that this picture is significantly different than the pictures that are usually on my blog, as those pictures are typically taken from Mom's point of view. It is amazing how different peoples normal point of view affects their entire out- look on life. I imagine that Mom sees the world as being much smaller and more manageable than I do, she probably even sees more of the world than I do. But does the fact that her point of view shows her more of the world make her point of view better than mine? Is anyone's point of view "better" than anyone else's? Mom says that this question is one of the central questions of Anthropology, the discipline that she studies. According to her, Anthropology is all about trying to see other people as they see themselves, or, in other words, trying to view a person from their own point of view. Of course, this is very hard, because it is almost impossible to step outside the point of view that is your own (and that's why Mom has to have so much schooling/training in Anthropology). Difficulty aside, I think that the world would be a much better place if we all tried to see things from other peoples points of view more often. Imagine how many fights with your spouse you could avoid by stepping into his "shoes" when he snaps at you, or how many wars we could all avoid if our leaders would just try to understand other leaders, from their own point of view. Snow

When Mom, Dad, the Cats, and I all got back to Colorado a week ago the weather was sunny, warm and wonderful. Now it is cold and snowy! I can't believe it! I don't think that I have ever actually seen so much snow before.
I enjoy the snow because I can eat it, run around in it, and jump on Mom while wearing it, but I also don't like the snow for a lot of reasons. Reason 1: it is cold. Reason 2: it destroys the chance of going to any events (such as Pug round-ups) in other cities. Reason 3: it traps you in the house and makes you bored. I am, and have been for most of the day, very bored.
Something that I wonder about in reference to snow is the "yellow snow" phenomenon. Mom and Dad both warned me not to step in or eat the yellow snow... I did ok avoiding the yellow snow until I started "doing my business" and then the yellow snow seemed to follow me evrywhere that I squatted! Why? Where does it come from? Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me?

Sometimes...

Sometimes... People are strange, they make you walk across moldering logs in the forest and call it fun.
Sometimes...Mom is weird because she keeps track of every single thing that she eats and no longer gets any enjoyment out of food (whats the point?!?).
Sometimes...Grandparents are a good thing because they give you a place to live, food to eat, and a car to drive when your luck is riding you hard.
Sometimes...cats are annoying because they try to commit suicide by refusing water all the way through the Nevada desert.
Sometimes...People are mean because they gossip, and hurtful gossip seems to spread faster than the non-toxic kind.
Sometimes... People are surprising, like an old friend from years gone by who still cares, no matter what changes have occurred in your lives.
Sometimes...you can't find a job and you owe the IRS money, and sometimes you can, and you don't.
Sometimes...People charge you exorbitant fees for very little work, or demand tips when none are deserved.
Sometimes...life isn't fair, but most times it is...

Walking in Colorado

Walking in Colorado is so much better than walking in any other part of the country that I have walked in. Not only is the air cleaner but the forests are nicer and the hills are steeper. In the picture to the left you can see that I have become quite tuckered out from a short walk in the Colorado mountains just outside my grandparents house in Golden, Colorado.
I enjoyed this walk in particular because I was able to climb logs, pose for pictures, and eat cow poop galore.
