Snowy Day

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here. Well, after two weeks of 60 degree temperatures here in Denver we finally have some winter like conditions! Behold: SNOW! Now, I really don't care for the snow and you can tell that from all of these pictures - each of which features a different version of my "I am so cold that I am going to die so please take me inside now" face. Yeah, my life is hard!

My Birthday and Western United States Blogger Meetup Update

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.
Today is another nice day in Colorado, so Mom and I have already been to the dog park, Sloan's Lake and the car wash, but the nice days are about to end as it is supposed to snow on Friday.
Even though though the weather is going to get progressively worse as the week continues, I am excited about the end of this week for two reasons. One: tomorrow is my fourth birthday! Yay me! and Two: Grandma Andrea, who has been in Costa Rica for the last two weeks, is coming home to see me on Friday! Yay! I can't wait!
In other news, Mom says that due to the very large amount of emails that she has gotten saying that people want to come to the Western United States Blogger Meetup, but can't because of time constraints, other obligations, job considerations, etc, that she has decided to postpone the Meetup. AND she would really like it if everyone who is interested in coming to a Western United States Blogger Meetup could email/comment and let her know when would be a good time. What month? Possibly October? Would that be better? Let us know, and have a great day!

Western United States Blogger Meetup

Hello! Everyone! Rachele Jean Beck, Jemima Jones Beck's Mom here.
Today I am shanghaiing Jemima's blog to talk to you about an idea that Leah and I have had...
After years of reading about East Coast Blogger Meetups, I would like to organize a Western United States Blogger Meetup!
Now, just because we are calling it a Western United States Blogger Meetup, that does not mean that our friends from Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire and all of the other areas of the country can't join us. Everyone is welcome! It just means that the Meetup will be held in the Western United States, specifically, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I have chosen some preliminary dates: Wednesday March 25th - Saturday March 28th 2009.
I chose these dates based on my experiences as a travel agent. I know that the weather will be nice in Vegas at the end of March, but not yet blisteringly hot. I know that the Spring Breakers will be gone, and that the hotel and flight rates will be going back down.
For instance, I found a flight from Denver to Vegas for $176 and hotel accommodations at the Imperial Palace for $200. I know that not everyone will be interested in the Imperial Palace, or flying from Denver, so I researched some other hotels and departure cities for the same dates and found that rates at Caesar's, The Flamingo, Paris, and Harrahs are also reasonable and that flights from Minnesota, Washington, and California are priced to go!
I was thinking that while we were in Vegas we could have some time together as a group, and some time to do whatever! So maybe at least one group dinner at a really cool Las Vegas restaurant, possibly seeing a show together, doing some gambling together, bar hopping, touring together to the Hoover Dam, or any number of other things!
Now I am hoping that you all will let me know what you think. Is anyone interested? Does anyone have other ideas for things to do together in Las Vegas? Any thoughts at all?

My Saturday

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.

Today Mom and I decided to take advantage of the 60 degree Colorado weather and go to the dog park and then for a walk around Sloan's Lake! I had a great time except, I was really tired from running around at the dog park, so when Mom wanted to jog at Sloan's Lake I hung back a little which made Mom a little grumpy. Oh well!

"To Cool For Words" Contest

Hello! Everyone!
Jemima Jones Beck here. Today, I am entering Mom and Dad in Goodboy Norman Featherstone's "Too Cool For Words" Contest.
Here to explain the contest is Norman:
"...I decided to hold a contest to find out who was the coolest of the cool back in their day. So, I challenge you to dig through your old photos and find the one that best exemplifies you being "too cool for words." These have to be serious photos, no Halloween costumes or silly dress up photos - you have to have really thought your were "all that" at the time, and it must now embarrass the living pug out of you!!".
Thank you, Norman, for starting this contest. While we here at the Beck household KNOW that we will never be able to find a picture (that Dad will let us post on the Internet) that is quite as..."awesome" as the one that you have so gallantly posted of Woman, we thought that we would throw our hat into the competitive ring with this, the 2002 Golden High School Senior Class picture, featuring Mom and Dad right there in the dead center.
As you can see, Mom was in an "I wear a purple leather jacket with a large lavender flower and I like it" phase while Dad was in his "I am a total BAD ASS with long hair and a brown leather jacket, and I never smile for any reason, EVER, not even the last day of my Senior year of High School" phase.
Gotta love those old pictures.
The second picture included here is of my reaction to the picture that Dad wont let Mom and I post...I totally almost chocked on my squeaky ball.

Thief?!

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.
In this picture you can see me sitting with one of DAD'S Christmas presents from Grandma Andrea - a nice warm blanket. I appropriated it a few days ago and jump up onto Dad's chair to cuddle with it pretty much every time that he gets up.
Dad says that I am a thief and that I should leave his soft and warm blankie alone! I say "Ha!" to that! I am simply sharing...maybe Dad needs to learn to share better.

PS: Several people asked where the photos from my last post were taken. They were taken in Green Mountain Park. We live by it's back entrance and walk in there occasionally.
