The Creepiest Spider in the Neighborhood

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here. Today Mom and I went to Grandma Andrea's house to take pictures of her sunflowers because, you know, sunflowers are pretty, and Mom ran into the creepiest spider ever (literally, she almost ran right into it's web but stopped just in time which is good because eww).

These are just a couple of the bo-jillion sunflower pictures that we have now - pretty huh?
And here is the creepiest spider ever. Now, it turns out that this is a Cat Faced Spider which is an extremely beneficial garden spider that eats tons of bad bugs and is totally harmless to humans, but Mom didn't know that when she smashed it with a brick and then hosed it's guts off of Grandma Andrea's flagstone patio. Oops.
Now, I wondered what made Mom smash this spider and not Rosie, the Spider that Mom met at the Butterfly Pavilion a week ago. When I asked her, Mom told me that it's one thing to meet a "domesticated" spider that lives in captivity and is supposedly very used to humans, and totally another to almost walk into the web of a freaky looking free range spider the size of a cell phone.
I guess that I can understand that!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
PS: Click on the picture of the spider to make it bigger - it's creepy and interesting at the same time!

The Butterfly Pavilion

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here with some pictures of Mom and Dad's trip to The Butterfly Pavilion this weekend. Apparently, it was really cool, but I wouldn't know because dogs aren't allowed.
Enjoy!

The Butterfly Pavilion!
This giant praying mantis almost got Dad! Had I been there I would have protected him!
Dad made a new friend...
And so did Mom...

And they met some super pretty butterflies. Dad nicknamed this one the Frida Kahlo Butterfly because it is so brightly colored!

Thanks Everyone! And Random Pictures that Mom Took with her New Camera!

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here. Thank you very much to everyone who commented on our post yesterday to wish Mom a Happy Birthday! That was so nice of you all! You all made Mom feel special.
Mom had a great day. She went with Grandma Andrea to lunch, opened fabulous presents, and then went to Got Paint, a paint your own (anything) studio. Grandma Andrea painted a butter dish and Mom painted a ginormous bowl. Mom and Grandma's creations wont be "done" (glazed, fired and all) until next week, so we'll show you more pictures then!
In the mean time you all are probably going to have to deal with a whole mess of pictures that aren't of me for a little while...Dad got Mom a new DSLR for her birthday (Grandma Marlane and Grandpa Steve chipped in too), and Mom seems a little bit obsessed with photographing everything in sight including me, Dad, the cats, and Harvey, Mom's new Venus Flytrap. I promise that I'll make her go back to photographing me exclusively ASAP!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
Here are Mom and Grandma Andrea at Got Paint (thanks Grandma Andrea for the picture).
Mom's almost finished bowl.
Wellington (don't mind the eye boogers).
Netty (again, don't mind the eye boogers. The cats seem to have been having an eye boogery night).
Dad, no eye boogers, thank god.
Dad again, this time at D'Deli showing off his massive sandwich. He should be glad that I didn't pick the picture of him shoving half of that sandwich into his mouth.
Mom's new Venus Flytrap Harvey who Mom thinks looks like a butterfly in this picture.
Harvey again, showing off his trigger hairs.
And, FINALLY, me, (hiding behind Dad from the scary new camera).
Smooches!

Happy Birthday to Mom

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.
Well, today is Mom's 25th birthday.
And, as usual, she will be celebrating it by ditching me at home while she goes gallivanting off to who knows where. Sigh. Mom sure is lucky that I am a forgiving pug otherwise I might poo on her as a little "birthday surprise"..."Good morning Mom! Happy Birthday! I understand that you are running off without me again this year! Enjoy cleaning up that poo, I made it just for you..." or, you know, something like that.
Anyways, this year Grandma Andrea and Mom are going to Pho Hau, Mom's FAVORITE Pho restaurant and then to paint pottery at a paint-your-own pottery-place (which I don't know that name of, can you tell?). Mom is super excited! Dad is also taking Mom to dinner somewhere, but I don't know where (not even privileged enough to know WHERE they are running off to this year! Hmpf!), so I can't really tell you about it.
Since I couldn't find any awesome birthday themed pictures for your enjoyment, I have instead included two random pictures of Mom. As usual, she looks kinda weird in both of them. Oh well.
The first one is of Mom and Netty, but you can't really see Netty because our camera flashed his head out. That's how desperate I was to find a picture of Mom - I had to use a crappy flashed out picture! Might be time to start letting people take your picture Mom - just a thought! And the second one is a self portrait that Mom and I took of ourselves while we were waiting for Grandma Andrea to come and join us for Perseid Meteor Shower viewing a week ago (that was a fun night!).
Any who, Happy Birthday Mom! I love ya!

Mom's Side of the Bed

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.
I want to apologize in advance for how ugly these pictures are! Mom is dead set on showing you all something: exactly what she sees every night when she comes to bed! Which is Netty and me (along with Andy and Chomps, Mom's stuffed alligators) taking up basically the whole bed (or, at the very least, Mom's entire side of the bed).
Poor Dad doesn't appear to have much space in these pictures but somehow I don't think that that is what irritates Mom about the situation. I think that it actually has something to do with the fact that we refuse to move, even when Mom threatens to lay on us, so she ends up having to squeeze into the bed either between Netty and me (which results in her being forced to deal with a set of cat paws shoved up her nose, and a pug face snorting up her cleavage all night) or between Dad and me (which results in her face being smashed into Dad's back and her neck being assaulted by my puggy butt all night). Apparently, neither one of those things sounds like a pleasant option to Mom...I am not exactly sure why...Mom is kinda weird that way.
Anyways, another post soon - Mom wants to show you all the awesome earrings that she ordered from Jen, Suki and Mojo's Mom, via her Etsy shop. They are super pretty but Mom needs a little bit of help photographing them (apparently, it's hard for humans to photograph their own ears).
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
