Another Great Hike with Grandma Andrea

Hi! Everyone. Jemima Jones Beck here.
I am so lucky to have a grandma like Grandma Andrea!
She took me on another great hike last week and she agreed to share the pictures with everyone.
Our hike was in Herman Gulch - isn't it beautiful?

I Itch

I itch! I itch so bad!
Why is that? What did I do to deserve this torture?
Maybe it was those cell phones that I ate back when I was a puppy. Or that chewed Harry Potter book coming back to haunt me. At any rate, I itch!

My Hike With Grandma Andrea

Hi! Everyone!
Remember on Monday, I mentioned that Grandma Andrea takes me for hikes sometimes during the week?
Well, she took me for a hike last week AND she took some pictures, so I thought that I would share.
Here I am meeting some girl scouts. It was exciting. I like girl scouts.

And here I am playing with Joshua. Joshua belongs to a friend of Grandma Andrea's. He is a BABY. I really like babies, but I don't get to be around them much because Mom and Dad refuse to provide me with one. I keep telling them to suck it up! Take one for the team! Give me a baby! But they don't listen...

And here I am chasing a squirrel. I totally didn't catch him, but it was exciting none the less!
Thanks for taking me on such an exciting hike Grandma Andrea! I love you! Puggy kisses!

I Caught a Whale!

Hi! Everyone!
Jemima Jones Beck here!
Mom bought me a new toy! It's a whale! Isn't that exciting?
I like it, because every time that I catch it I can say "I caught a whale!!".
When I tell other dogs that, they are totally going to think that I am super cool and awesome...I better go find some other dogs right now!

It's About Time

It's about time that Mom got around to helping me write another blog!
I never wanted to be one of those bloggers to who lets a week or more go between posts, but with Mom and Dad working so much, and the Internet NOT working at our apartment, it is hard to get any blog writing cooperation.
Also, there just isn't anything going on that it is worth it to tell you all about.
An average day for me goes like this:
Dad and Mom wake up. Mom makes Dad breakfast and then he walks me and goes to work.
Mom and I might go back to bed for half an hour, or maybe we just stay up and read or whatever for a few hours until Mom feeds me, takes a shower, walks me, and then leaves for work.
I wait and wait and wait until Mom comes home and walks me again at the end of the work day, then I watch her make dinner. Then, when Dad comes home, I watch the two of them eat dinner. Dad takes a shower, plays with me for half an hour, walks me, and then we go to bed while Mom stays up and reads or knits, or whatever it is that she does until she comes to bed.
There is some variation - sometimes Dad comes home early and takes me for a mini hike in Green Mountain, or sometimes Grandma Andrea comes over and takes me for real hike (like she did this week), but that is pretty much the routine at the Beck household. Boring huh?
Oh well...

Ugh! Pee-u!

Oh man! I can't believe that such a pretty flower smells so bad! What's up with that? Who visited this flower before me and what did he do to it? Ugh! I'm getting out of here!
Watch out for the stinky flowers!

Bridges are Scary

I always run over this bridge really fast because it is super scary, just like all other bridges.
I mean, can you really call it a bridge if you can see the water rushing by below you through the huge open spaces between the boards?
I don't think so!!!

People are Weird

Hi! All,
Have you ever noticed that human beings are weird? I mean like really, really weird?
I have been noticing this a lot recently while hanging out with Mom.
For instance, people will very very carefully avoid making eye contact with or talking to Mom, but will then sit down on the ground to pet and talk to me.
Whats up with that?
It's not just Mom either. I have seen humans scrupulously avoid eye contact or speech with each other while the dogs at the end of their respective leashes happily sniff butts and lick faces. Weird.
Or like today. I was sitting with Mom at an outside table at Starbucks when a man came up and sat at Mom's table, even though there were about thirty other empty ones. He didn't say a word to her, he just sat down and drank some coffee. Why did he do that? Why did he sit next to Mom even though he didn't know her and there were lots of empty tables? We'll never know because, apparently, humans don't talk to strangers.
People! Sheesh!

Jobs Are Like Baths

Hello! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here.
The beginning of another week is upon us, and, as usual, the only thing that anyone in the Beck household can think about is the fact that Mom and Dad both have to go back to work tomorrow, something that they are dreading.
As a pug I find the concept of work hard to understand. Especially the whole "I hate what I do but I'm doing it everyday anyways" part of it. I mean, if Mom and Dad are both miserable, shouldn't they not work anymore?
No? That's not how it works? Well, I guess that I just don't get it, and probably never will. I mean, I hate baths, so I only take them when Mom and Dad make me and...oh...!! I get it!! Someone is MAKING Mom and Dad work!
Well, now that I understand that part of it, I guess that I can relate. Jobs are like baths, horrible and wet, and you don't go there by choice!

There's Nothing Like It

Ahhh! There's nothing like a refreshing drink of dirty mountain stream water to give you a rousing case of explosive diarrhea.
Life is good.

Mmmph....

P-tewy! OK, I got that stick out of my mouth and now I can talk to you all.
Not much going on around the Beck household other than Mom and Dad working and walking me.
And, on almost every walk that we go for Dad throws a stick. His training in this area is going well...I have him trained to the point where I only have to bring the stick back to him five or six times before he starts retrieving it himself. Training him to get the stick every time has been a nearly six year project, but I think that we are really almost there!

Leaping...

...into a new week.
Last week we were "bounding" this week we are "leaping". I am never excited for Mom and Dad to leave me for work, but at least this week is a short week - only four days (for Mom at any rate)!
That means less time trapped at home with the kitties, and more time snuggling at home with Mom and Dad!
Yay!
